Marvel has made a handful of series since the launch of the MCU, with some fan favorites and others that have fallen flat. The head of studio TV, Brad Winderbaumhas some behind-the-scenes insights into the past and future of Marvel shows, and has some brilliant things to say about the series that started it all.
Winderbaum appeared on Phase Hero’s live show from New York Comic-Con (via SuperHeroHype), where he praised the ABC show Agents of SHIELDsaying, “That show really holds up. There are moments in that series where they hit their stride and there will be a run of 5-6 episodes that are incredible.”
Originally introduced in 2013, Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD ran for seven seasons and aired over 130 episodes during its run.
The show was created by Joss Whedon, Jed WhedonAND Maurissa Tancharoenwith Jed Whedon, Tancharoen and Jeffrey Bell as showrunners. The series was notable for being the first TV series set in the MCU and followed the agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D.
The show introduced several characters that fans were hoping to see in the MCU films, such as Ghost Rider, played by Gabriele Luna.
With five years between the end of the show and the present day, it seems less and less likely that we’ll see those same actors return, but the characters still have a chance.
Agents of SHIELD is available to watch in all seven seasons on Disney+.
