Stephen King and dozens of his famous colleagues are willing to pay unknown authors good money to publish their books under their own names. At least, this is what an interesting advertisement on an American job search website suggests.
The Reedsy agency announced the recruitment of ghostwriters – this is the name given to freelance writers who write books for other, much more famous and popular colleagues. The list of those the agency works with includes not only the king of horror, but also Suzanne Collins (The Hunger Games), EL
“In total they write about 20,000 books per year. Every ghostwriting market is different. In the US, projects can cost more than $100,000, which is much less common in Britain and almost never in France. Nevertheless, ghostwriters around the world have long become a full-fledged profession,” Gorky.media discovered.
But even working with ghostwriters doesn’t guarantee that someone else will write King’s books. Indeed, in some cases we can talk about a full-fledged project, but usually such authors are responsible only for the most routine parts of the work.
At the same time, Stephen King himself has never admitted to using the work of “ghost writers”, and even on fan forums dedicated to the creator of “It” and “The Dark Tower” they are already wringing their hands over the released facts. Therefore, the stains on Stephen’s reputation may increase significantly after this.
Of course, if the Reedsy agency didn’t lie about collaborating with the ‘king’ for the sake of a nice word and drawing attention to their vacancy.
