The film critic called a really worthy Russian substitute for Hollywood.
Mosfilm has announced the re-release of Georgy Danelia’s film I’m Walking Through Moscow. Previously, restored Soviet cartoons were also re-released.
Film critic Alexander Shpagin said in an interview with the PopCornNews portal whether a modern cinema audience would start seeing such films.
“Absolutely not, it’s even funny. There have been such attempts before, trying to make old modern movies, almost in 3D. Yet nobody went,” said the film critic.
Shpagin believes that such films cannot be a worthy substitute for Hollywood. A real replacement could be modern live comedies, in which the eternal absurdity of Russian life is revealed, the expert said.
“This is antiquity, only our new comedies can be a worthy replacement: “Naughty”, “Parents of a strict regime”, “Sergius against evil spirits”, “Boomerang”, – this is the real deal. It all started with “House arrest”, this was a breakthrough,” said Alexander Shpagin.
