EastEnders undergoes a BIG scheduling change ahead of the hit Christmas episode – as fans count down to the reveal of THAT body

EastEnders have confirmed they will not be releasing their mammoth Christmas Day episode early on iPlayer.

Normally, soap fans can watch that day’s episode online from 6am, but during this hour special viewers will have to tune in at 9.45pm to catch the drama.

EastEnders viewers have been counting down the days until the identity of the Queen Vic’s mystery male victim is revealed, after ten months of clues, theories and red herrings.

The fact that the episode will not be available on iPlayer in advance means that the final reveal will remain a closely guarded secret until it airs on screen.

The long-running storylines surrounding the six – Linda Carter, Suki Panesar, Stacey Slater, Denise Fox, Kathy Beale and Sharon Mitchell – finally come to a head on Christmas Day when a male character meets his maker.

Over the past ten months, fans have been given small clues that point to the identity of the man in question. A clear sign is that a few cufflinks can be seen on the body.

The shortlist has already been narrowed down to seven: Phil Mitchell, Keanu Taylor, Ravi Gulati, Dean Wicks, Nish Panesar, Rocky Cotton and Jack Branning.

And in scenes broadcast on Tuesday, viewers saw the mystery cufflinks as Alfie Moon sold a big box of the accessory ahead of Christmas.

While fans noticed that all seven possible victims appeared to be wearing the cufflinks, three of the boxes sold by Alfie were a different color.

This led some fans to claim that this meant that three characters could be killed off on Christmas Day in an amazing twist.

Anticipation is building for the upcoming Christmas episode of EastEnders, which will finally reveal the identity of the male body in the Queen Vic.

Sharon and Keanu prepare for their wedding, with the groom unaware that his wife-to-be is hiding a big secret about the paternity of their son Albie.

When her ex Phil arrives for the big day, it remains to be seen whether the ceremony will take place.

The wedding turns out to be more eventful than expected. Sharon joins Linda, Denise, Kathy, Suki and Stacey at the Vic as they all try to come to terms with the events of that day.

However, none of them could have predicted what would happen next, as the six’s lives changed forever when a male resident of Walford died.

Ahead of the hour-long episode, showrunner Chris Clenshaw hinted that new steps have been taken to ensure the outcome of the episode remains a closely guarded secret.

He said: “We have used various methods throughout the year to keep the plot secret and ensure that the Christmas episode and the big reveal about who is on stage – and who is doing it – remains a secret until December 25.”

“Unfortunately, I can’t reveal what the methods are because that would give everything away, but it would be a real shame if someone spoiled the surprise because we know how much audiences love watching the drama in real time.”

Before the Christmas episode, viewers saw several storylines come together around the six, culminating in a dramatic festive showdown.

Explaining where each character finds themselves in the run-up to Christmas, Chris said: “Stacey struggles with Theo and her desperation to find out the truth about Eva’s whereabouts leads to her bonding with someone who is taking her away.” Surprise.

“Suki is very worried about Eve and will do her best to find out if her husband Nish is behind Eve’s sudden disappearance.

“Linda is further harassed by Dean Wicks and his actions cause old habits to die a hard death for our mistress.”

“Sharon plans to marry Keanu Taylor on Christmas Day and hides the truth from him that her son Albie is actually Phil Mitchell’s son, but it’s not a secret Sharon can understand and secrets never stay secret for long .”…

“Denise’s marriage to Jack has been on the rocks since her fling with Ravi Panesar earlier this year, but things are put under even more pressure when one of them breaks their wedding vows this side of Christmas.

“Kathy is heartbroken when she discovers that her husband, Rocky Cotton, was behind the arson attack on their beloved cafe, leaving her two grandchildren in hospital and Peter fighting for his life. Kathy was robbed of all her savings and had no choice but to sell her pride and joy just before Christmas.”

The storylines have been praised by many viewers for breathing new life into the soap this year, and the episodes are expected to continue well into 2024.

EastEnders airs on Christmas Day at 9.45pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
