Anna “Chickadee” Cardwell’s ex sues Mama June for custody of her oldest son, 8 days after her death

After the 29-year-old’s death, Michael allegedly took full custody of Kylee, according to documents obtained by the tabloid. In those same documents, the proud father claimed he had “fully and completely assumed a permanent, unequivocal, committed and responsible fatherly role” for Kaitlyn. Although Michael is not Kaitlyn’s biological father, he said he is “dedicated to the child’s ongoing care and has established a bonding, dependent relationship with the child.”

Additionally, Anna’s ex claimed that after their split in 2017, his “visiting schedule” with Kylee “also included time” with Kaitlyn. Michael went on to claim that Anna supported her relationship with her eldest daughter before her death. He noted that he had developed an “independent relationship with the child, which was encouraged and supported by her parents.” The documents indicated that Michael was allegedly considered “the father of the child.”

The documentation stated that both Michael and “the parents” were in agreement with the circumstances. “Both the petitioner and the parents understood, acknowledged, accepted, and acted as if the petitioner were the parent of the child and accepted full and continuing responsibilities as a parent of the child without expectation of financial compensation,” the documents state. Furthermore, Michael claimed that a man allegedly called Caleb Clark “I have never supported Anna or Kaitlyn” and “I should have no legal rights” to Kaitlyn. Despite Michael’s claims, the outlet noted that Caleb “allegedly never took” a DNA test.

Michael claimed that his late ex had a “very sordid relationship” with Mama June and that Kaitlyn’s grandmother had an “inconsistent” relationship with the preteen. The 44-year-old mother took to Instagram on Dec. 10 to announce the sad news of Anna’s death. “With a broken heart we announce that @annamarie35 is no longer with us. She passed away peacefully at my home last night at 11:12 pm,” Mama June wrote in a family photo.

“She fought hard for 10 months, she died surrounded by her family as if she didn’t want to.” [sic] and we will update you with additional information as we have it today,” he continued. “We love you all and continue to pray and think for our family during this difficult time.” Anna leaves behind her three siblings, including Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson18, Lauren “Pumpkin” Efird23 e Jessica Shannon27.
