Deborah Knight walks down Sydney after being banned from 2GB radio

Deborah Knight stepped down in Sydney on Saturday, two weeks after signing off from her last 2GB afternoon show following her sacking.

The popular 50-year-old broadcaster looked despondent as she walked alone in her hometown.

Deborah was dressed casually for the outing: a pink T-shirt, a denim skirt and a pair of khaki sandals.

The former Today show host opted for a natural look, skipping make-up and completing her ensemble with a simple silver necklace.

She had her glasses in the neckline of her t-shirt as she walked down the path before crossing the street.

Deborah hosted her 2GB radio show for the past four years but was reportedly fired due to poor ratings.

The broadcaster was “stunned” by the news he received, The Sunday Telegraph reported.

Her salary was rumored to be $600,000 when she started the afternoon radio show in 2020 after being fired from the breakfast show Today.

But despite debuting with an impressive 11.4 percent audience share, it has now fallen to a record low of 6 percent in the latest survey.

Following her dismissal, Deborah announced a major career move to her radio listeners last month.

The former Today star said she would become the “new national presenter of Money News”.

“As host of the afternoons, I take a step back.” I don’t leave 2GB though. In fact, I’m taking on a new, broader networking role,” she said.

“I have been given a new role as the new national anchor of Money News.”

Current Money News host Scott Haywood “will continue to play an important role on Money News,” though Deb did not elaborate on his role.

Deborah is also rumored to be eyeing the weekend newsreader role at Channel Nine, currently held by Georgie Gardner.

Alleged sources told Woman’s Day that Deb hoped to “convince the network that she should be the one anchoring the weekend news.”

“It’s time for Deb to have a role where she can have a say,” says the alleged insider.

Another “close insider” says Deb’s reported $600,000 salary could be “cut in half” and that she wants to win her “dream role as a weekend news anchor” to avoid the cut.
