Nicki Minaj gave fans a glimpse into her personal life when she opened up about addiction and plastic surgery in her Vogue cover story published Thursday.
The 40-year-old Super Bass hitmaker recalled being prescribed Percocet for menstrual cramps years ago and said she continued to take it even after the pain subsided.
“No one told me that it was a narcotic and that it was addictive,” she began. “Fortunately I was able to be grounded. But: once addicted, always addicted.’
She added: “I feel that if you’ve ever experienced an addiction to something, which I have, you always have to think twice and thrice about the decisions you make.”
In the very revealing interview, she also mentioned her recent plastic surgery.

Nicki detailed a recent breast reduction and said: “I really love it.”
She continued: “I used to want a bigger butt and now I look back and realize how stupid that was.”
“So: Love your curves and love your non-curves. There’s nothing wrong with that.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Nicki talked more about addiction and how it affected her family growing up, as her father also suffered from a substance abuse disorder.
“I just wish that the moment I understood that he wasn’t doing it because he wanted to, I thought that he was making a conscious effort to get addicted to a drug that would allow him to play the video games to stealing his children and selling them for a dollar. Price will sell. “Money,” she revealed.
“Now I realize that these people did not make these decisions because they wanted to harm their families. The addiction took over her body and her life. They were victims too.’
She also said that she is more diligent when it comes to controlling her addictive personality because fame can often complicate the problem.
“Look at some of our biggest celebrities. In the end, they are either laughed at for wanting to come out more, like Michael Jackson, or criticized, like Whitney Houston, or fighting a silent battle, like Prince,” Nicki announced.
“It’s one of the best of all time. And one day they decide: “You know what? I’d rather treat myself and be in my own world.” Do you have to keep doing interviews and pouring your heart out so people can laugh? NONE.’

Nicki then revealed her highly anticipated sequel to Pink Friday, Pink Friday 2, which is expected to be released in December.
“When I look back on a lot of my music, I think, ‘Oh my God, what was I in for?’ So I went back to the old plan for this album.”
