Kim Kardashian’s appearance at the Met Gala could become another scandal.
Two weeks have passed since the prom, and heated discussions about it continue. Kim Kardashian’s red carpet appearance in Marilyn Monroe’s legendary dress was the loudest at the event. This time, the author of the sketch of that same outfit, Bob Mackie, decided to speak out. It turned out that the designer was hostile to the idea of lending the legendary dress to the television personality.
When Maki made the drawing of Marilyn’s famous “naked” dress, he was only 23 years old. Since then, 60 years have passed. The outfit was kept for years in the Ripley’s Believe It or Not! and carefully monitored. In it, the Only Girls in Jazz star sang for President Kennedy. According to the designer, no one except Marilyn herself had the right to wear the dress.
“I think this is a big mistake. Marilyn was a goddess. A crazy goddess, but a goddess. She was just fantastic. And this dress was designed for her,” the fashion designer was quoted as saying by Entertainment Weekly.
Maki is far from the last to think so. Monroe biographer Michelle Morgan shares the fashion designer’s point of view. The writer was disappointed when she saw Kim’s iconic 60-year-old dress.
“It is extremely fragile and has previously been stored under temperature-controlled conditions. But anything can happen to another person on the red carpet,” she said.
