Actor and activist Woody Harrelson was an advocate for the legalization of marijuana and cannabis long before it gained the support of many elected officials and skeptical citizens.
Therefore, it seems fitting that the Cheers star will attend a ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the opening of The Woods WeHo retail marijuana dispensary in West Hollywood on Friday.
In fact, it was Harrelson himself who helped cut the ribbon as a symbol that the factory, located at 8271 Santa Monica Avenue, was open for business.
Along the way: Woody Harrelson, 60, and West Hollywood Mayor Lauren Meister shared the honor of cutting the ribbon at the opening of The Woods WeHo retail marijuana dispensary in West Hollywood on Friday, May 13.
Wearing a blue shirt and brown pants, Harrelson, 60, shared scissors with West Hollywood Mayor Lauren Meister at the ceremony.
Also present at the event were Councilor Lindsey Horvath and West Hollywood Chamber CEO Genevieve Morrill. With Harrelson’s wife, Laura Harrelson, and friend/actor Steve Guttenberg.
Former WeHo Room President Keith Kaplan presented Harrelson with a framed dollar bill for good luck, which is a WeHo Room tradition.
“We hope we’ve added more beauty and better moments here,” Harrelson told the crowd gathered on the Santa Monica Boulevard sidewalk just before The Woods officially opened its doors. WeHo Times†
“We hope we can help lift the people of West Hollywood a little higher.”

Harrelson founded The Woods WeHo with ERBA co-founders Devon Wheeler and Jay Handal, political commentator Bill Maher, interior designer Thomas Schoos, and Schoos Design CEO Michael Berman.
Nestled between high-end restaurants and shopping malls, the 8,000-square-foot establishment consists of an indoor retail space in California that sells a wide variety of sun-grown herbs.
“We’re so excited that The Woods is opening,” Morrill said during the festivities. “It’s great design and Thomas Schoos has been a great asset to the city of West Hollywood for a very long time. It’s the perfect place.’

Over the years, Harrelson has been an advocate and consumer of marijuana and cannabis.
In 1996, he was arrested in Lee County, Kentucky for symbolically planting four cannabis seeds in defiance of state laws that do not distinguish between industrial hemp and cannabis.
Fast-forward 26 years, and the famous actor never imagined that he would see the day when marijuana and hemp could be legally produced and sold viable products.
“There is no way,” he said. “It’s like war. Not so much would happen if it wasn’t profitable. And to say that the war on non-corporate drugs is extremely profitable is no exception. So I never thought it would be allowed. Of course the government will get its fair share again and maybe even more than it has ever received. .’

A new day: Harrelson admitted she never thought she would see the day when marijuana and hemp could become sustainable products that are legally produced and sold.
