AND offshore in your era of failure? No, it’s not, but fans weren’t thrilled after her headlining at Coachella. The April 16 show was less “comeback” and more “sassy,” with Frank, 35, taking the stage an hour later than scheduled. He also spent the set appearing through a giant video screen, only occasionally appearing behind it to address the crowd. Amid reports on why the reclusive and beloved artist hasn’t complied, the Hollywood reporter claims Frank “injured his ankle” in practice the week before Coachella. The “production of his show was adapted based on doctors’ advice,” he says. thr.
The delayed start time meant that Frank’s set was essentially cut in half due to Coachella having to observe a strict midnight curfew on Sundays. After being on stage for an hour, Frank told the crowd, “Guys, they told me it’s curfew, so this is the end of the show. Thank you very much.” (h/t Rolling stone) Additionally, Frank’s performance was not featured on the Coachella live stream on YouTube, angering those back home who had been waiting for a chance to see him perform.

However, Frank had his defenders. “I was blown away by Frank Ocean’s performance at Coachella”, Justin Bieber he wrote after the reaction. “His artistry is second to none, his style, his taste, his voice, his attention to detail. She moved me deeply. She made me want to continue and improve as an artist. She continues to raise the bar and gave me a night that I will never forget! Thanks, frank.

Both TMZ and Festive Owl, an online source for “festival news, lineups, rumors” and more, have reported that something bigger must be in store. TMZ also reported that Frank was injured while doing something with bicycles circulating on the grounds of the Empire Polo Club and that the injury was so severe that doctors advised changing his suit. Apparently 100 hockey players from Los Angeles were involved in the set, which included an ice rink. “The stage production was to contain (and did contain) an ice rink that was built and ready for use. Frank decided at the last minute that he didn’t want him anymore. All the people walking around him at the beginning of the show were actually ice skaters, they had been training for weeks and were supposed to skate as part of the production.
I spoke to sources about what exactly happened and how things have been so far since Sunday a #FrankOcean + #Coachella… so here it is 👇

“Coachella had to tear down the approved stage (which was planned and signed off months in advance) + melt down the entire ice rink then set it up as Frank decided today with no warning. Which is what you ended up seeing that caused the hour delay. All of this was when the gates were already open for Sunday and people were securing seats to watch it,” @TheFestive Owl tweeted.
“If the last minute changes hadn’t been made, he would not have performed, leaving the festival without a closing headliner. Frank also personally hung up on the last second of the live stream, which left a bad taste in many Coachella’s mouths. Finally, and I quote: ‘It just didn’t seem like it wanted to be there, but it had to be. Everything (including him) fell apart at the last minute. Don’t expect to see any festival coverage on set. Something unprecedented in the history of Coachella. The relationship is not in a good place right now.’”
