Coolio died at the age of 59 on September 28. Grammy-winning rapper, whose full name is Artis Leon Ivey Jr.He was in Los Angeles visiting a friend when he died, according to his former manager, who also confirmed Coolio’s death to The New York Times newspaper. Coolio’s friend apparently found the rapper collapsed on the bathroom floor and called paramedics, who attempted to revive Coolio, before he was pronounced dead at the scene around 5 p.m.
Coolios’ label, Casual, released a statement to hollywood life shortly after the rapper’s death. “We are honored to be a part of the Coolio musical family. Coolio is a legend who has inspired a generation of artists to openly share their visions with the world,” said Jen Pearce on the label. “We are so grateful that Coolio has shared his talent with us, and at the same time, we are very saddened to have a foothold in his incredible musical journey,” he added.

Quest Love, ice cube, Stevie J, AND Rare Al Yankovic were just a few of the famous names who paid tribute to Coolio and remembered the legendary rapper’s legacy. Fans also shared their sadness over Coolio’s passing in the comments section of his latest Instagram post, which included a video of him from behind performing to an emotional crowd.
Coolio found his stage name by luck in his early years as a rapper when someone at a rap competition called him “Coolio Iglesias”. His second album, Gangsters paradise, won the 1996 Grammy for Best Rap Solo Performance and was nominated for Best Song of the Year. Before his death, Coolio had eight studio albums to his name. He struggled with drug addiction early in his career and ended up going to rehab to get help for himself.
