Five months after Anne Heche died in a fire accident, her youngest son Atlas Heche Tupper remembered her in moving memories.
“My mother was the smartest person I’ve ever known,” the grieving 13-year-old told the Los Angeles Inquisitor on Tuesday.
“She always knew how to solve a problem or help a friend. She always knew what to do. I can’t put into words how grateful I am or how much I miss her.”

The Daytime Emmy winner welcomed Atlas during their 11-year relationship with fellow Men in Trees actor James Tupper, which ended acrimoniously in 2018.
The 57-year-old SAG Award nominee told the magazine: “Anne and I have been together for over a decade, we have a beautiful son together and during that time she has been the definition of light in our lives and always had fun , love and energy. She will always be remembered in our hearts and minds.”
Anne tragically died on August 5 aged 53 after crashing her Mini Cooper into a house near LA.
On Dec. 6, the coroner determined that Heche had trace levels of benzoylecgonine, an inactive metabolite of cocaine, in her system at the time of the crash, but she was unaffected — according to TMZ.

On Tuesday, Viva Editions released the Ohio-born blonde’s 176-page, “part memoir, part self-acceptance workbook,” Call Me Anne, a follow-up to her 2001 autobiography Call Me Crazy.
Anne’s posthumous book includes anecdotes about her frequent mentor Harrison Ford, her three-year romance with Ellen Degeneres, her encounter with Harvey Weinstein, her history of childhood sexual abuse, her religious beliefs and more.
On Tuesday evening at 7:00 PM, Heather Duffy Boylston, co-host of Heche’s Better Together, will host a talk through Call Me Anne at Barnes & Noble at The Grove in LA.
The What Remains actress’ eldest son, Homer Heche Laffoon – the court-appointed curator of her estate – wrote of the event: “I know mom will love to see everyone’s smiling faces as she reads an excerpt and signed copies.”
