Critics Choice Awards require Covid-19 testing of all entrants as shortlist grows

TO UPDATE: All attendees at today’s Critics Choice Awards must submit a Covid-19 test within 72 hours of the event. The unusual move is one of the first major awards in 2023 that will require this additional measure.

Michelle Pfeiffer also posted on Instagram that she will not be attending today’s award ceremonies after testing positive for Covid-19.

EARLIER: The two stars of Banshees of Inisherin, Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson will be absent from tonight’s 28th annual Critics Choice Awards, which honor the best achievements in filmmaking and television in 2022.

Both tested positive for Covid-19, according to a studio source.

Farrell is nominated for best actor in a leading role, while Gleeson is nominated for best supporting actor tonight. Both attended the Golden Globes on Tuesday, where Farrell won the award for best actor in a comedy or musical.

The Banshees of Inishin has nine nominations at the Critics Choice Awards.

Also Jamie Lee Curtis, one of the stars of Everything, everywhere, all at once. She also tested positive for Covid-19.

The awards ceremony will be held at the Fairmont Century Plaza in Los Angeles and will air on The CW beginning at 7:00 PM ET. Chelsea Handler hosts the show.
