‘SNL’ alum Cheri Oteri pays tribute to Barbara Walters on CNN’s New York special: Watch



Barbara Walters was often personified with great humor and flattery, and Saturday night live alum by Cheri Oteri confronting the late reporter was the cream of the crop. To show how much Barbara meant to her after the icon’s death at age 93, Cheri paid tribute to her by appearing on CNN’s New Year’s special with anderson-cooper Y Andy Cohen.

Cheri admitted that before she found out about her death, she planned to make her iconic. sl iconic impression when she “started a podcast,” as Cheri knew there was “no modern news show she hadn’t evolved with.” But out of respect for her, she made no impression, instead paying homage to the woman who was “part of the fabric of my childhood” and blessing her to have the “major responsibility” of parodying her on the show.

During his tenure in sl, Cheri played a hodgepodge of characters and impressions, but none other than her portrayal of Barbara Walters became the calling card for the talented actress. She wowed the Studio 8H live audience with 23 times coverage of the show!

He even picked up the performance for CNN’s 2020 New Year’s Eve celebration hosted by Andy Cohen Y anderson-cooper. “Oh Andrew Anderson, once again it was such a treat for you to have me in your boozy New Year’s Eve special during the apocalypse we call 2020,” Barbara said of Cheri during the broadcast. “Now, I’m afraid I’ll have to reduce my exposure time with you two because I’m considered high risk, or, at this point, just high. Since we’re still in the last stretch of holy hell, we’re calling it 2020.

And Barbara co-signed Cheri’s performance! In his latest episode of Intuition in 2014, Barbara even hosted a pre-recorded segment where Cheri, who plays Barbara, interviews her. Check it out above!

Barbara’s death was confirmed by her representative in a statement to hollywood life, who said the star “died peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones.” The rep added, “She lived her own life with no regrets. She was a pioneer not just for female journalists, but for all women.”
