Getting back to the routine doesn’t have to mean giving up the tanned and flattering skin that accompanied us during the holidays. In order to prolong the effect of the sun on our complexion, we can use a natural cosmetic ingredient that can help us so that the summer is partly not over yet and we can show off beautiful skin by prolonging our tan. Your name? DHA.
What is DHA? It is a self-tanning ingredient of vegetable origin, the initials of which correspond to the name ‘dihydroxyacetone’, a carbohydrate derived from sugar cane.
How does it work? When it comes in contact with the epidermis, it produces a chemical oxidation reaction that stains the dead cells of the outer layer of our skin. The effect is not permanent as the color fades as the natural exfoliation process progresses, naturally eliminating the cells every 2 or 3 days.
What are your benefits? It is a skin-friendly ingredient because it only offers the “good” side of sunbathing. Unlike UVA and UVB rays or tanning beds, the DHA in self-tanners does not cause premature aging, blemishes or permanent damage to our skin.
Where to find?
One of our favorite self-tanners is the St. Moritz mousse. An ultra-light, quick-drying product that gives your skin a completely natural instant tan, while respecting your skin’s health.
We also really like Sephora’s self-tanning body mousse. Formulated with 98% natural ingredients and enriched with aloe vera and DHA of natural origin, the foaming formula is easy to apply and dries quickly, revealing a gradual and uniform tan.
