Did you know that July 29 is International Lipstick Day? surprised? The truth is, you should never underestimate the superpower of lipstick to make us happier: for example, red makes you feel like a Hollywood diva, fuchsia whitens and rejuvenates the smile, and nudes add sophistication. Adding to all this a rich texture with nourishing properties, lipstick is a must-have for a book and a product without which we can no longer imagine the world of makeup. Gisela Bosque, Sephora’s National Makeup Artist, tells us some of the keys to getting the most out of this iconic product.
TURN THEM ON: “It’s not always necessary to use a filler product to show off full lips,” explains the Sephora pro. “Another option is to apply the liner just outside your natural lip line, dab a little gloss with your finger in the center of your lower lip, and pinch your lips together to spread it out.”
GET THE RIGHT TONE: “There are those who think that to find the perfect lipstick color you only have to go up between one and two shades to get the natural color of our lips,” says Gisela Bosque. What is yours?
THE OUTLINER IS ALWAYS A GOOD BASIS: “The lipstick will last longer if you fill in the lips with the liner first. Lip gloss, for example, is known to fade quickly. But by filling in the lips with a lip liner, you give the gloss something to cling to,” explains the Sephora expert.
TEST IT: “The place to try a lipstick to be as true to the end result as possible isn’t the back of the hand, it’s the fingertips,” concludes Sephora’s National Make Up Artist.
