Not so long ago, owners of straight hair, who dreamed of curls all their lives, had the opportunity to try on the look they wanted. For those who don’t know, bioperm is a gentler alternative to the perms our mothers and grandmothers did. The process is not permanent (curls last from 2 to 9 months), but you can fully experience all the joys of a curly life. True, there are no immediate warnings about some of the consequences of biowaves. For example, your hair may become one shade lighter or it may now take an hour to condition. Below, we’ve compiled a complete list of the points your beauty editor has encountered firsthand.
Hair becomes drier
If your hair becomes dry after the biowave process, this is normal. This is not because aggressive solutions are used in the process. NO. The bio-curling composition does not contain ammonia and thioglycolic acid. And the main component is cystamine. It works very carefully on the hair structure, it does not destroy the disulfide bonds, on the contrary, it stretches them. As a result, the hair becomes more porous. And porous hair equals dry hair.
Porosity is a property of hair; This refers to how tightly the cuticle scales fit together.
If there is distance between the scales, the hair becomes rougher and the strands become porous. They retain volume and any style better, but themselves are drier and unruly. If the cuticle scales fit tightly together, the hair will be shiny and not tangled, but will practically not hold the style.

After bio-perm, your hair needs more moisture, so you can add a mask (1-2 times a week), sulfate-free shampoo (necessary), conditioner and leave-in serum or cream to your care routine.
Hair color lightens
Not all hair is affected by this, but most are. And this happens again because of the solution used during biowave. It is gentler but still alkaline (albeit at a low level), so it may have minimal impact on hair pigment. Therefore, be prepared for your curls to be half a tone or one tone lighter.
By the way, the procedure is not recommended for recently dyed hair, as the compositions used for bio-curling can change the shade.
Scalp becomes dry

Another thing you should be prepared for is that your scalp will start to peel off about a week after the procedure. This is because the solutions used by the master come into contact not only with the hair but also with the scalp. And secondly, just like hair, it dries out and can begin to flake. The main thing at this time is not to be afraid, rinse your scalp thoroughly several times to remove all dead particles. To do this, use a special deep cleansing shampoo or mild peeling.
The outcome may be unpredictable
Coming to the hairdresser and saying I want curls like the picture on Pinterest is not a very feasible plan. Since everyone’s hair structure and type is different, no two curls are the same. Therefore, you should not hope that the hairdresser can meet your expectations 100%. Even the master himself cannot predict the outcome of the procedure. It is not possible to say right away how long the biowave will last – 2 or 9 months. Let’s say more, on the same hair curls can be different. This was the case with your beauty editor, for example. When I applied bio-perm for the first time, the curls were smaller and more defined. And in the second – larger ones. And this is with exactly the same inputs. Therefore, with bio-curls you should always allow for at least a small chance that the curls will not last as long as you would like. Otherwise you may be disappointed.
Hair care will last longer

The first thing you need to know is that you cannot wash your hair for two days after bio-perm. And not just wash it, but also put it in a ponytail, fix it and comb it. These rules must be followed in order not to lengthen the curl and give the curls time to straighten and “remember” their new shape. So if you are doing bio-perm today and planned a workout for tomorrow, you can safely cancel it. Hair needs rest for the first 48 hours, so you will have to forget about the presence of any hair accessories during this period.
And now we’re about to leave. When hair is curly, it needs more moisture and care. Just wash it and forget it won’t work. To care for your curls, you need to use conditioner, moisturizer or serum, and of course, styling if you want the curl to last for a long time. Moreover, your hair dryer will have a new friend: Diffuser. You can dry curly hair only with it, so you do not blow out the strands and create a dandelion effect.
You can also forget about the comb. Especially for dry hair. You can only detangle your curls if they are sufficiently moisturized – it is best to do this with the conditioner or mask in place. At this point the hair becomes the most slippery and the curls are very easy to unravel.
