Take care of yourself: How I tested a brand’s body line

Self-care has become a real trend in recent years. Perhaps the algorithms and recommendation systems of social networks are to blame for this, because the video stream with reviews of morning and evening beauty routines and bath tours creates the feeling that everyone except me is doing nothing but taking care of themselves. Peels, creams, pastes, lotions – everything that can give the skin radiance and freshness is used. Although I am usually quite calm about marketing gimmicks, when it comes to self-care, laziness often comes to the fore. No matter how hard I try, I can not develop the habit of multi-stage care.

And finally I was able to leave myself alone, if not for one thing, my skin really needs it. Genetics gave me allergies and eczema, so it was not only the doctor who recommended me care, but also fate. So when the editors offered me to try the new Colors series from Café Mimi, I immediately volunteered. So, dear reader, I invite you on a virtual journey whose purpose is to take care of yourself and your body.

It is worth starting with the fact that there are five body care lines: COCO, SWEET, MATCHA, FRUIT and MANGO – for every taste and color (literally). I decided to try the MATCHA collection, because only this drink can get me out of the house and give me hope for a brighter future. But let’s not delve into philosophy. So I was given five products to test: shower gel, foot cream, scrub, lotion and cream – a basic set for everyone who is at least a little familiar with the basics of body care, and new products for me. Except for shower gel (my parents raised me right).

The gel immediately went to the shelf in the bathroom. I would like to note that the smell of the gel is not at all intrusive, despite the rather specific aroma of matcha. And after use, a pleasant aroma of green tea remains on the skin. In addition, it foams well and fulfills its main function – cleansing and not drying out my already sensitive skin. And all thanks to green tea and vetiver extract: the first is responsible for the renewal of skin cells, the second – for nutrition and preservation of elasticity. It’s nice that the product has a minimum consumption, despite the impressive size of the package. I’ll tell you a secret that I still use it.

Then the maximum program started (at least for me). Several times a week I used the MATCHA POWER body scrub to renew and further cleanse my skin. I will say right away that I have never had a good relationship with such products because, as I mentioned before, my skin is sensitive and it is not recommended to scrub it so as not to damage the already irritated areas. Surprisingly, we found harmony with this product. Small particles of sugar and sea salt gently removed and exfoliated dead skin particles without irritating, green tea extract had a healing effect, chia seed oil moisturized and vitamin E maintained the hydrolipid balance.

The penultimate stage of care was body cream in the evening and lotion in the morning. I’ll start with the first. The cream, although quite thick, was quickly absorbed and did not leave any stickiness, which is always a plus. Due to the monoi oil and hyaluronic acid in its composition, the product “fixed” the moisture after the shower gel, and also protected and restored the skin thanks to vitamins E and F. I especially liked the psychological aspect of the application. Let me explain. It was very nice to apply the cream as the last stage of care after the shower before going to bed and lie down on the pillow with the feeling that you took good care of yourself.

Now about the lotion. It became a “lifesaver” for me. Since it was not as thick as a cream, I could apply it in the morning without worrying about it sticking to my subway seat. Despite its light texture, it moisturized the skin and helped to maintain it throughout the day. For this, I thank the brand’s technologists and the jojoba oil in its composition. By the way, the travel version of the same SWEET lotion settled on my desktop, and not only I use it, but also my colleagues.

The final step is foot cream. I used it as a scrub several times a week. To be honest, I am ready to devote a separate article to this product, as it solved a problem that previously only medical ointments could cope with – it helped my eczema to subside. I will share a life hack: after showering, I applied the cream in a thick layer, especially on dry areas, and went to bed. The result was a moisturizing mask that took care of the skin all night long. For those who want to know the composition, I will inform you: jojoba oil, which moisturizes dry skin well, and green tea extract, which is responsible for cell renewal.

Our short but fruitful journey has come to an end. I have been using the products for two weeks and I can’t help but notice how much my skin has changed (and by the way, it’s not just me). It has become hydrated, radiant and healthy. But the real lesson I learned from this story is that it is always important to take time for yourself. And with the Café mimi Colors products, I finally managed to make it a habit.
