Summer is light and we like to celebrate with the favorite shade of Spanish women, blond tones. Blonde hair is finer in the summer, yes, but that doesn’t stop you from wearing a bright and flattering color. Raquel Saiz, director of Salón Blue by Raquel Saiz, gives us the keys to trending blondes, as well as how to care for them.
Floating blonde with lots of dimension
Resorting to darker blondes in the summer because they’re easier to maintain or because we feel like it doesn’t mean we have to go without luminosity. “Blonde shades closer to our base color are great for summer. The sunlight at this time of year makes them brighter and with the heat coming we want more natural tones. One way to wear them is through more light to give to the strands close to the face to lighten it, like a coin, and leave the rest a little darker. It can be done with freehand balayage technique to achieve this vaporous color with so much personality. To keep it, I always recommend using sun protection,” advises Raquel Saiz of Salón Blue by Raquel Saiz from Torrelavega, Cantabria.
Beach Blonde, the blonde who brings us the summer
Trends also bring us lighter blondes, despite the heat. The mix of tones is key. “By mixing our base color with a vanilla using techniques such as babylights, we can alternate intense flashes of light with more brownish flashes. This color contrast is not only flattering, but also gives our hair more body and dimension. I recommend restoring the shade with a violet shampoo every one or two weeks and add plenty of hydration so the color doesn’t fade,” says Raquel Saiz.
Honey, the sweetest shade
It’s a lovely and attractive color, especially when made with techniques that chromatically degrade from root to tip. “Honey is a very attractive warm blonde and one of the favorites in the summer. My suggestion is to wear it very naturally, something that is achieved by choosing the right coloring technique, in this case melting. The color gradually becomes lighter without the traces of color changes, that makes it even more suggestive. In addition, because the roots are darker than the ends, the result is very natural. Dyed hair is always more delicate, spoil it with shampoos and conditioners for colored hair “, explains Raquel Saiz from Salón Blue by Raquel Saiz from Torrelavega (Cantabria).
Impact blondes and low risk
There is not just one way to achieve naturalness. We should also not confuse it with the ability to leave a mark. “We can wear bright, light-filled blondes with easy maintenance. The key is to achieve a natural result. Teasylights are highlights that lift from the middle to the tips, although we can work them higher, but without the root to the touch. The color breaks down, so that the ends are lighter and a multidimensional effect is achieved. Avoid excessive washing and wet your hair before entering the sea and pool. Rinse with fresh water when you leave”, says Raquel Saiz of Salón Blue by Raquel Saiz of Torrelavega (Cantabria).
