Actress Anna Faris revealed her 14-year-old son Jack is a devout Christian like his father Chris Pratt during an appearance on the Dear Chelsea podcast.
The 49-year-old star of The House Bunny told host Chelsea Handler on Thursday's episode that she does not share the same deep sense of faith as her 47-year-old ex-husband or their teenage son, explaining that she did not grow up with religion.
Faris disclosed that Jack asked her to accept Jesus Christ, prompting a thoughtful response from the actress. "I told him that I would do anything for him, including this, but it's still going to take a whole lot of long conversations," she said.
The actress explained that she tries to challenge her son on complex topics to encourage open dialogue. Faris recalled asking Jack about abortion, saying: "I'm like, 'Do you think it's a luxury that you get to be pro-life? Do you think that's kind of a luxury?' He's like, 'Maybe.'"
She also brought up high-profile religious figures during their discussions. "Or I'll say, 'So what do you think of this mega-pastor that's kind of a grifter? What do you think?' He's like, 'Oh, mega-pastors are the worst.' So it's like, 'OK, we're getting there,'" Faris recounted.
Faris expressed gratitude for her son's analytical approach to religion and their relationship. "I'm appreciative that he's examining religion the way he is in terms of recognizing hypocrisy, starting to recognize hypocrisy. And I'm appreciative that we can have these long conversations," she added.
She further praised Jack's emotional resilience, describing him as emotionally stable and "strong as a tugboat." Faris said: "He just doesn't get easily jarred. He handles situations really well."

Chris Pratt's religious journey
Jack's father, Jurassic World star Chris Pratt, has spoken publicly about his own relationship with God, which deepened after Jack was born nine weeks premature, weighing just three pounds, 10 ounces.
In a personal essay published in December 2025, Pratt reflected on his son's difficult early days in intensive care. "When my son Jack was fighting for his life, I found myself back on my knees, pleading to God for a miracle," Pratt wrote. "I promised that if Jack survived, I would devote my life to sharing God's message. This time I meant it."
Faris and Pratt married in July 2009 and were together for eight years before announcing their separation in August 2017. Their divorce was finalized in October 2018.
Pratt went on to marry Katherine Schwarzenegger in June 2019 after the pair met at a church service. Schwarzenegger is the daughter of actor and former California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and journalist Maria Shriver. Pratt and Schwarzenegger share three children: Lyla, six, Eloise, four, and Ford, who was born last November.

Lifestyle changes and personal health
During the podcast episode, Faris also discussed broader personal developments in her life, including her decision to stop drinking alcohol and her perspective on public fame.
The Scary Movie actress shared that quitting alcohol significantly improved her outlook and daily interactions. "It was only in the last, like, year, I think, that I really started to notice and appreciate if and when people recognize me, they would usually smile," Faris said.

When Handler asked if that positive shift was connected to sobriety, Faris agreed, calling it "one of the many gifts."
Faris elaborated on her decision to give up alcohol: "It turns out there's a correlation between drinking and depression, for me, for sure. I had to take a step back and not self-sabotage."

In addition to lifestyle shifts, Faris revealed that she began hormone replacement therapy (HRT) to manage symptoms associated with perimenopause. She told Handler that the treatment has made a "huge difference."

Faris, who married cinematographer Michael Barrett in June 2021, recently promoted her new film Spa Weekend by sharing a video of herself dancing in a bikini alongside co-stars Leslie Mann and Isla Fisher.
