An Air India flight from Phuket to Delhi suffered brief turbulence on August 4, injuring more than ten people during a sudden drop in altitude. The Independent reported that the airliner experienced a rapid height change during the flight from Thailand to India.
Ten passengers, including an infant, and two crew members sustained injuries in the incident. All twelve injured individuals were taken to a medical facility following the aircraft's safe landing.
Passenger Accounts
An anonymous male passenger told reporters that the plane had been airborne for about an hour and a half when the incident happened. He said it was early morning and passengers were sleeping when the aircraft suddenly tilted and remained in that position for two to three minutes. The man said he experienced lower back pain afterward, while his brother suffered injuries to his shoulder and back.
The incident follows a prior event where five people were injured during turbulence aboard a Eurowings flight. Severe shaking sent a flight attendant to the ceiling and left four passengers with minor injuries.
