Vietnam Resort Rent Doubles Amid Russian Tourist Influx

Residential rental prices across popular tourist resorts in Vietnam have doubled following a sharp increase in arrivals from Russia.

The cost of renting apartments in major coastal destinations has climbed from 300 dollars to 700 dollars per month for the same properties, according to a report by the Telegram channel Mash.

Data shows that the number of Russian holidaymakers and relocating residents visiting the Southeast Asian nation increased by 274 percent over the past year. The surge in visitor numbers has created strong demand for housing, with the sharpest price increases recorded in seafront apartments and newly built residential complexes.

Resort Hotspots and Housing Demand

The highest demand is concentrated in Nha Trang, Da Nang, and Phu Quoc. Nha Trang and Da Nang are major coastal cities in central and southern Vietnam known for their long beaches and marine tourism, while Phu Quoc is an island in the Gulf of Thailand famous for its tropical resorts.

Vietnam has become an increasingly popular destination for international travellers seeking warm weather and tropical coastlines. The rapid growth in long term visitors and relocating individuals has put pressure on local real estate markets, particularly modern apartment blocks located near popular beaches.

The price increase from 300 dollars to 700 dollars represents a change from approximately 25,700 rubles to 60,000 rubles for rental units in affected areas. The report noted that the price hike applies directly to identical housing units that were previously available at lower rates.

Health Warnings for Travel to Vietnam

The rise in tourism comes alongside health advisories for travellers visiting the region. A holidaymaker from Lyubertsy, a city located in the Moscow region of Russia, was recently hospitalized with dengue fever after returning from a trip to Vietnam.

The traveller contracted the infection after being bitten by an infected mosquito at night while sleeping. Dengue fever is a viral infection transmitted to humans through mosquito bites, commonly found in tropical and subtropical climates such as Southeast Asia.
