Two Russian tourists were swept into the open sea during a storm in Vietnam, according to Telegram channel Mash.
The victims, a man born in 2002 and a woman born in 1998, were part of a group of four vacationers. The group rented water transport and set off on a sea trip from Nha Trang toward the south of the country.
During the excursion, the two Russians decided to swim in the rough sea, and a tourist from Kazakhstan jumped into the water with them. Strong waves quickly began dragging the three swimmers out into open water.
Rescue at Vung Ro Bay
The swimmers managed to reach the shore at Vung Ro Bay, but crashing waves repeatedly pushed them against rocks, preventing them from getting out of the water. Both Russians eventually climbed out, while the Kazakhstani tourist stayed in the water until help arrived.
Emergency services workers promptly assisted the victims. They suffered light and moderate injuries from hitting the rocks.
An active storm warning was in effect for Khanh Hoa province, where the vacationers had decided to swim.
