How to Leave Home: Passenger & Sinestra adapts Nathan Newman’s novel for TV

The couple acquired the TV rights after a competitive auction of the novel, which is due out in the spring of 2024. This is Passenger’s first major project to be unveiled since its acquisition by Fremantle, and one of Sinestra’s first projects since launching with a first-look Fremantle deal a few weeks ago. .

Newman’s book in 24 hours follows Natwest, a precocious, intelligent but anxious 23-year-old who orders an embarrassing package from his home on the eve of his departure for university. When it doesn’t show up, he must embark on an odyssey through his small town to get it back.

Brown, Renck and Parets said the book could become an “instant classic”.

“Desperately original, deeply insightful and extremely funny at the same time, we feel extremely privileged to be working with Nathan as Herder. How to leave the house in its next life as a television series,” the trio added.

Deadline revealed that Fremantle acquired Passenger earlier this month, and Brown’s clapboard is also working on an adaptation of Tess Gunty’s The rabbit hutch. Sinestra, on the other hand, launched in September and is adapted from Antoine Wilson Word of mouth.
