Prime Video’s latest Spanish original is a supernatural horror series romantic.
The program, written by author and screenwriter Fernando Navarro (Venus, Veronica) directed by Tomás Peña comes from producer 100 Balas owned by The Mediapro Studio.
It is played by Sasha Cócola (Food and lodging, Paco’s Men) and Serbian-born actress Elena Matic, making her dramatic series debut in Spain, Ricardo Gómez (The substitute, La Ruta, Cuentame Como), Guillermo Toledo (The followers of Midas), Belen Cuesta (That Endless trench) and Julia Cardinali (the candidate) and features a special guest star Alba Flores (Money robbery, locked up).
Deadline announced today that Flores will direct another drama series. ulterior motiveby Matt Brodlie and Jonathan Kiers Upgrade Productions and Spanish company Moreno Films.
romantic follows Cornelia and Jordan as they flee “the force of the law, powerful supernatural beings and themselves”, against a backdrop of desert and brutal Andalusia as real as it is mythical, during a nightmarish night haunted by demons . witches and blood drinkers.”
Navarro and Peña said they drew inspiration from comics, Gothic literature, tales of witches, spirits and creatures, Federico García Lorca’s poetry and esotericism to inform the show.
The series spans six half-hour episodes and the action takes place in one evening. The exterior shots will take place in different locations in Almería, while the interior shots will take place in Madrid. The managing director of Mediapro Studio, Laura Fdz. Espeso is producing, with Javier Méndez, Fernando Navarro, Alejandro Florez and Maya Maidagan serving as executive producers.
