The British broadcaster ITV ordered end changedan autobiographical scripted comedy based on the life of stand-up host and host Alan Carr.
Gavin and Stacey and Alan Partridge Producer Baby Cow Productions is directing the six-part comedy, which Carr co-directs with Simon Carlyle (Two doors Low). It follows Carr’s life in Northampton, England, in the 1980s, where he grew up as the son of a fourth division football manager.
Carr will shine as himself in the present, with Oliver Save (Belfast) takes on the role of a younger Alan. Further casting will follow closer to the show’s broadcast.
ITV said the series was “told with warmth and humour” and was “more than just a trip down memory lane, it’s a love letter to a time and city where things weren’t always so inclusive”. Carr, known for his talk show Alan Carr: Talkative man and his stand-up comedy, he often spoke about growing up gay in the East Midlands and living at home with his ex-footballer father.
Carr and Carlyle are executive producers along with Simon Carlyle. The director is Dave Lambert. Executive producers are Sarah Monteith and Rupert Majendie, and Baby Cow’s Danny Julian.
For Baby Cow, the series follows the Channel 4 comedy-drama which launched earlier this year chivalry and debuted on co-founder Steve Coogan’s live show Alan Partridge Live: Stratagemwhich we announced will be streaming on Prime Video in several international territories.
