Patient (Arte) – Clotilde Hesme: "Txomin Vergez is the revelation of the century!"

Director Christophe Charrier signs a captivating psychological thriller carried by Clotilde Hesme and an unknown young actor. Not for long…

Three years later, 19-year-old Thomas awakens from a deep coma after being found lying on the living room floor with a knife stuck in his stomach. His father, mother and cousin died, were murdered. Her sister has disappeared. The young man who remembers nothing is followed by Anna Kieffer, an enigmatic psychologist played by Clotilde Hesme: “Mysterious but not seductive, unlike the comics (Timothé Le Boucher, editor’s note)There is an ambiguous relationship between him and his patient. It is the person who accompanies, listens, is there in the telefilm. At the same time, one wonders what role he played in this event…” A character that the actor does not hesitate to grow old: “I like to protect my hair, which has already started to turn white in life. This is not insignificant, because very few 40-year-old actresses do this. Not because they don’t allow themselves, but simply because others don’t. 25-year-old women sometimes have gray hair, but almost all of them dye their hair because society has a hard time accepting it. But I prefer to think the opposite.”

Delighting director Christophe Charrier, who wanted to see a completely different look on camera from Clotilde Hesme’s, with short dark hair, HPI, on TF1. It’s an opportunity for the actress to play her transformation card in full: “Therefore, a graying wig to interpret this injured woman walking with a cane. Very mysterious, no less sun. An Anglo-Saxon character, we rarely allow that. Ourselves in French fiction.” Some kind of angel of death? He humorously replies, “A bit, yes, we really don’t know if he came to resurrect Thomas or finish him off.”

Txomin Vergez “has a crazy talent!”

The boy Thomas is played by Txomin Vergez, who was his first on-screen role and was literally dying. His performance impressed his partner: “He’s incredible, he’s the revelation of the century!” Young talent held by Christophe Charrier revealed thanks to TV movie DolphinThe director, who won multiple awards at the 2018 La Rochelle TV Editing Festival, explains his choice for the main role of Patient: “First of all, I wanted an actor without a cinematographic background to whom nothing could be projected. Txomin was completely a virgin before this film. This is the first role. We see him on almost every level to lose weight, gain weight, play a series of conflicting emotions… And you see the result: his performance is insane!” Sometimes you can go crazy to share memories – real or imagined? – an absolute rule for the protagonist, but without getting completely lost, for the filmmaker: “I think of my films as roller coasters when they arrive, with all the answers to the questions posed during the journey.” Get ready to embark on this chilling tale, enhanced with music by Alex Beaupain.
