"I was extremely angry" : Marianne James talks about eliminating Mask Singer

TF1 released the first issue of its fourth season last night. mask singer. At the end of a night full of humor, two celebrities were eliminated by the public and had to take off their masks. Among them was Marianne James, who was hiding under the doll’s costume. The hot-tempered singer returns to Télé7.fr for this extraordinary experience.

Eliminated in the first bonus, aren’t you so disappointed to leave so quickly?

I’m not hiding that it hurts a little bit from you. Something in this adventure in particular made me very sad… Frankly, I was knocked out by a mouse singing “Liberated, delivered”, which I’m having a bit of a hard time getting over. I lost by one vote. It broke my sugar!

Did you hesitate before accepting this show?

Not for a second. Remember the unicorn from season one? Back then, the evening asked me, ‘Are you a unicorn?’ I received 135 messages asking. I found it funny and wanted to leave them in doubt by not responding. People hadn’t thought of Laurence Boccolini, and I didn’t want to piss him off. Several times the production contacted me to attend the show, but it didn’t fit my dates. This time it was the right one!

Did you choose this cute giant doll costume yourself?

It was the production that made me this offer, but I wanted something clear from them. From the very beginning I didn’t want anyone to know about me, my big boobs, my big hips, my curves, what! It was absolutely necessary to camouflage all this. ‘Make me a lightbulb if you have to!’ I said. And when they sent me the drawings of the costume, I glowed and immediately said “yes”.

Wasn’t it hard under this imposing costume?

This is hell. Inside, a real gas factory. Me, who is claustrophobic, had to take it myself and do some meditation exercises. And inside, there is no way to drink! The costume weighs about 40 pounds but it’s the big wheels that hold it all together. It took me about 40 minutes to install. It must be admitted that they are quite advanced in terms of costumes. The interior was padded, with a cyclist-like hoop around my head and a whole frame for the body. He’s even turned around! My eyes are burning from the heat and sweat, I must have lost 500 grams in two days, but I immediately got it back!

How do you explain such a hasty elimination?

I made a big mistake. I didn’t know that it was the people in the hall that would vote. There were families and lots of small children. I sang “Mon papa à moi est un gangster” and “Blue Suede Shoes”, not too young. Faced with “Liberated, surrendered”, inevitably… I wasn’t modern enough. I was warned, but you know, I’m pretty retarded. It’s been good for me!

You admitted your disappointment during the screening because there were ‘mega pearls’ in the works…

Yeah, it’s a real shame, I’ve already saved six titles. There was an opera melody especially in banjo and western air. I’m a little disgusted because I had the opportunity to change my voice and have fun and fool everyone. We wanted to do a crescendo to gradually show off my singer’s voice. But in the end, proud that no one knew me, the jury was completely out of it. I swear on my honour, even Camille Combal didn’t know who was under the suit until she showed up.

All in the west, crossed out… I love it! This woman is a monument. And there are very few of us over the age of 60 on TV…
