This Sunday, TF1 airs the first episode of the evening Welcome to Marly-GomontCo-written by Kamini Zantoko, the film tells the story of him and his family, which attracted nearly 560,000 viewers in French cinemas when it was released in 2016. In 1975 they were the first black family to settle in Marly-Gomont, a small village of Picardy that became famous all over France, naming the great Kamini hit in 2006.
Kamini’s father, Seyolo Zantoko, fought heartily to study medicine in France at a time when blacks were generally out of reach. He later became a doctor in Marly-Gomont, despite the fear of other villagers. How did he and his family break stereotypes and gain their trust? Calling around 800 extras, most of whom are natives of the village where the feature films were shot, the film says just that. But this is surprisingly not in Picardy, or even in France! Indeed, the comedy was filmed in Steenkerque, a town in Belgium with a small area resembling Marly-Gomont.
to find Welcome to Marly-Gomont this Sunday, August 7th at 21:10 on TF1.
