It’s a cruel scenario. Frenchman Johann Zarco led the race at the British Grand Prix at Silverstone on Sunday, 7 August. A rare circumstance that gives the greatest hopes, but these were cut off abruptly on lap five: At a corner, the driver fell on his own and was forced to leave the race. “No ! NO !! NO! Not the fall of Johann Zarco, who lost the front in sector 2 while leading“, cried the Canal + commentator, completely unhappy with this reversal of the situation, unexpectedly.
After the race, the Ducati driver reacted to the microphone of the pay channel: “Maybe the center front tire didn’t have enough grip, but considering the temperature, choosing the soft one compared to the rest of the race was a concern. I got off to a good start and it was nice to lead the race but it really pisses me off to go down like that. It’s hard to put everything together to win, to attack and be fast after this long summer break. I think I just passed a new course at Ducati. Just go ahead and turn the page“.
Johann Zarco is not the only driver to drop in this race, as Spaniard Joan Mir was also in seventh place and fell on lap fourteen. The other French star, Fabio Quartararo, finished eighth.
