“Tyler Perry’s ‘Sistas’ Brings Branden Wellington to Series Regular”

EXCLUSIVE: We’ll see more of Tony King in Tyler Perry’s sisters. Branden Wellington, who returned as a recurring character in Season 6, has been promoted to series regular for the current seventh season.

Wellington’s king is a tall, handsome man who parked next to Danni and eavesdropped on her phone conversations. He has learned a lot from her and is clearly in love with her.

The seventh season begins three months after the end of the sixth season. The women face a whirlwind of change as new relationships form and their perspectives on life, love and careers evolve. Andi and Jordan build a promising foundation after Jordan decides to run for city council, and despite Gary’s betrayal, Andi tries to show warmth for the sake of her daughter Penelope. Danni has a promising relationship with Tony, struggles with therapy and faces challenges to her newfound confidence. Karen is pregnant and recovering from a salon loss. She walks through the grand opening of Karen’s Fresh Start beauty salon, disturbed by Zac’s demands and Pam’s increasing focus on a hair care product. Sabrina wants to advance her career and contemplate her future with Rich, while Fatima supports Zac and juggles law school.

Wellington is best known for his role as CO Jarod Young on Netflix Orange is the new black and a roll-on Russian doll. He also played the lead role in the short film When everything comes crashing down and is featured in the award-winning indie film Inez & Doug & Kira on Amazon Prime. Wellington won an Emmy for writing an open-title spoken word program TV dreams in a world of sports for Fox Sports in association with the Miami Heat. He is represented by CESD and TANDM Management.
