Port Charles welcomes back an old friend.
After recently announcing that he was leaving his year-long gig days of our lives, Steve Burton now returns General Hospital. He will reprise his role as Jason Morgan in early 2024.
The news was announced at the end of 2011 GH60th anniversary special broadcast the following Thursday night The golden bachelor live wedding
Burton left the ABC Sudser in 2021 after failing to adhere to vaccination guidelines. He finally joined the second episode of Beyond Salempeacock Days of our lives Spin-off before we go in DOOL earlier in the year. He played Harris Michaels, a role he originated Dusk in 1988.
Burton occasionally portrayed Jason Morgan General Hospital from 1991 to 2012, then from 2017 to 2021. His departure from the soap came three weeks after Ingo Rademacher (Jasper Jacks), who had been an outspoken critic of the COVID-19 restrictions, quit. He is suing ABC for religious discrimination.
Last July, Burton spoke to Deadline about leaving the ABC soap. His character left him at a difficult time: he married his old friend Carly (Laura Wright).
“Look, the circumstances [of his GH departure] It was hard and you know, it just is,” he told Deadline. “I will always be grateful for my time there. It was my family for so long. I grew up there and the fans were always great to me.”
