Three charges have been dropped against Jackson Mahomes, whose outside activities have irritated, enraged and delighted football fans in the Kansas City area.
The younger brother of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, Jackson, had the three charges dismissed by a judge Wednesday at the prosecutor’s request, according to Johnson County court records.
Mahomes was charged with three counts of aggravated sexual assault and a fourth misdemeanor. The charges stemmed from an incident at a Kansas City restaurant last February. Jackson Mahomes was accused of pushing a male waiter and forcibly kissing the restaurant owner. He still faces a misdemeanor charge.
According to KCTV, court documents show that the alleged sexual assault victim refused to testify in court. She claimed that her encounter with Jackson Mahomes was consensual and that she was not honest with the police. Publicly-available surveillance footage of Mahomes apparently shows him grabbing the 40-year-old from behind and kissing her deeply. This led to his prosecution.
Previously, the restaurant owner told the Kansas City Star that Mahomes asked to speak with her after he allegedly pushed her waiter and then grabbed her with such force that it left a minor bruise:
The Aspens Restaurant and Lounge at the center of the allegations is now closed.
Mahomes’ attorney, Brandan Davies, issued a statement after his client’s arrest in May claiming “Jackson did nothing wrong” and saying his team’s investigation uncovered exculpatory evidence:
“Our investigation uncovered substantial evidence refuting the allegations of Jackson’s accusers, including the statements of several witnesses. We have contacted law enforcement to share the results of our investigation so they can get a complete picture of the case.”
