Richard Franklin dies: “Doctor Who” actor was 87 years old

Richard Franklin, known for his roles in Doctor who And Emmerdaledied early Christmas morning at the age of 87.

The news was confirmed by his longtime friend Líam Rudden, who shared the news on social media on Monday on behalf of the family.

“It is with great sadness that the family of Richard Franklin asked me this morning to share the news of his death. Richard passed away peacefully in his sleep. Details of funeral arrangements will be posted here as they are announced. Sleep well, Richard,” reads Rudden’s message.

Franklin’s breakthrough on television came in the British soap opera overlap in the role of Joe Townsend, who debuted in 1969.
