On 21 May, 23-year-old resident of the town of Maignelay-Montigny, Lévana Boulou, was born in France to Cameroonian parents and was named Miss Oise 2022. The joy of the beautiful young woman was short-lived. She was immediately selected to compete for Miss France 2023 at Châteauroux and was the target of racist comments on the Web.
Among other things, we can read about it: “I didn’t know Oise was in Africa” or “Big change has begun”. Words strongly condemned by the Miss France committee in the person of district delegate Maxime Schneider.
In the columns of Oise Hebdo, the latter admitted first: “We have the right to a small dose of racism every year.” before condemning:It’s going bad. I was very surprised to see that people no longer have a filter. At least they were hiding before, today it’s openly racist“.
It must be said that the Miss France of colors did not survive in time. In 2020, Clémence Botino was the target of insults and was compared to a “monkey”, just like Flora Coquerel, Alicia Aylies and even Sonia Rolland before her.
During the 2021 Miss France election, 2021 Miss Provence also fell victim to antisemitism on social networks throughout the evening. Eight people, four men and four women, aged between 20 and 58, were referred to the courthouse to be held responsible for their tweets after their complaints.
