Mediapro Studios collaborated on the remake of Nicolas Winding Refn The famous five.
The Madrid-based content company has signed a production deal with BBC Studios that includes distribution rights for upcoming children’s series in Spain, Portugal and Latin America.
The series is a retelling of Enid Blyton’s best-selling novels, published between 1942 and 1963, and comes from Winding Refn’s NWR and the BBC Studios-backed indie behind it Moonage Pictures The pursuit of love And Bodywith The Mediapro Studio now Associate Producer.
The Danish writer Winding Refn (Driving force, Only God forgives) created the series with Moonage’s Matthew Read and both are executive producers. The film is being shot for the BBC in the UK and ZDF in Germany, and BBC Studios has already pre-sold the film to French broadcaster TF1.
In an exclusive interview with Deadline ahead of Mipcom Cannes in October, where The famous five Winding Refn said he was “finally doing something my kids will actually watch.”

For ZDF, Frank Seyberth, head of international co-production, is responsible for the series together with Katharina Kremling as editor-in-chief.
Tim Kirkby (Flea bag, The Pentaverate) directed the first episode, with Asim Abbasi (Churails, Cake, To count Abdullah) and Bill Eagles (Pretty Creatures, Gotham, Pennyworth) is directing the following episodes. BBC Studios, which holds a minority stake in Moonage, has international distribution rights.
