50 Years of Thanksgiving Television: From Charlie Brown and “All In The Family” to “Succession” and “The Goldbergs” Photo Gallery

The television industry has a lot to be thankful for, if the number of Thanksgiving episodes produced over the years is any indication.

One of the most memorable events for many people revolves around turkeys and their inability to fly. Let’s just say the chaos that ensued generated a level of hilarity that continues nearly 44 years after it first aired.

Sitcoms have been enjoying holiday fare for decades. All in the family took a serious turn in 1975 with “The Little Atheist.” in which Carroll O’Connor and Rob Reiner’s characters – Archie and Mike – argue over baby Joey’s religious upbringing.

More recently, shows have made the Thanksgiving presentation an annual affair. Friends made 10 Thanksgiving episodes, one for each year the series ran, and Everyone loves Raymond eight broadcasts.

However, it’s not just sitcoms that have gotten a bite of the Thanksgiving pie over the years. The NCIS For example, the franchise has delivered nine holiday episodes that add some procedural drama to the holiday meal.

Bob’s Burgers is the leader among animated series with 10 Thanksgiving-themed episodes. The Simpsons is one of the toons, of which five each were broadcast.
