The girl with the dragon tattooAmazon MGM Studios’ ongoing series based on the Steig Larsson books Seven seconds Creator Veena Sud as showrunner, Deadline confirmed.
The series, which has been in development since May 2020, revolves around the character Lisbeth Salander from the books. It is a co-production between Amazon MGM Studios and Left Bank Pictures in association with Sony Pictures TV.
The girl with the dragon tattoo will take the iconic and beloved character Lisbeth Salander and place her in today’s world with a new setting, new characters and a new story that will resonate with fans of the original and delight a whole new generation, Amazon said .
Harries, founder and CEO of Left Bank Pictures, will serve as executive producer alongside Rob Bullock.
Lisbeth Salander is the main character in Larsson’s award-winning Millennium series. Salander first appeared in the 2005 novel The girl with the dragon tattoo. She reappeared in the sequels: The girl who played with fire (2006), The girl who kicked the hornet’s nest (2007), The girl in the spider’s web (2015), The girl who takes an eye for an eye (2017) and The girl who lived twice (2019). The books have sold more than 100 million copies worldwide.
Sud recently created the Netflix series Seven secondsbased on the Russian film the mayor, which earned Regina King an Emmy for lead actress. Sud is best known for his development and writing the murder, where she also served as executive producer and showrunner. She also directed the film The lie and was a writer and producer for CBS’ Cold case.
