It was a speech that the fans were eagerly waiting for. Last March, the Youtubeur duo McFly and Carlito, who are famous for regularly producing videos with one of them, Emmanuel Macron, announced that they had temporarily stopped their content production. “We decided to take a break from YouTube videos”they announced. “It’s been a few months since the hyper-produced videos we loved and implemented, for guests, for concepts, it’s not the same taste anymore because it’s become the norm. This crazy race is so much more tiring since it’s not unheard of or new anymore”, they also wrote. But after weeks of silence, McFly decided to speak on his counterpart, Cyrus North’s channel. In a lengthy interview that lasted more than an hour and a half, the cameraman returned to many topics including his loved ones, his mental health, and also the burnout that caused him to suspend his career as a Youtuber. “There’s something that we felt was coming for a few months but it was really hard to understand what it was.”explained in the preface.
“The productions we made were at such a level… There was a tense and constant flow of questions and answers with the production”he complained. “One thing that will never change is that we are very involved in everything we do with Carlito. We approve of almost everything.”‘ Mcfly continued. “finally a nightmare”. “There were 150 groups talking all the time. Questions you can’t miss because someone else can’t move forward, blocking everyone… A tremendous source of stress”, admitted the cameraman. He also explained the mental consequences of his work and the consequences on his loved ones. “Whether it’s a weekend or a holiday, even if we separate the moments, we never cut it. We never cut it. It keeps moving even if we’re not technically editing or shooting (…) It leads to burnout in all trades”Carlito’s aide provided. “We’ll be back with a brand new new volume. We’re actually in the process of changing”, but reassured McFly. Their channel has 7.2 million subscribers for 332 videos currently airing.
