‘It was like an attack’: Yannick Alleno returns to the brutal death of son Antoine

A year ago, chef Yannick Alleno lost his young son, Antoine, in a tragic car accident caused by a drunk driver. In an interview with Le Parisien, she recalls this life-changing day.

The chief starring on May 8, 2022 had the worst day of his life. His younger son, Antoine, 24, who is just as passionate about cooking as he is, crashes into a stolen car scooter driven by a drunk driver known to the police. The young man died instantly, leaving his parents and brother Thomas in mourning.

Since then, the chief has fought tirelessly to help the families of car accident victims. On Saturday, May 14, 2022, he announced on his Instagram account the establishment of the association “Antoine Alléno”, which aims to “support victims of repeated crimes”.

Then, in Parisian’s columns, he explains why this struggle is so at his heart: Together with his mother and brother Thomas, we decided on the day of the funeral. Next, we had to move from intent to action, organize the structure, find a general delegate and above all a social worker to support the victims”.

Yannick Alleno, who was traumatized by the loss of his child, looks at the circumstances of the accident as follows: “My son was killed downstairs. When I got out, I discovered a scene of chaos. A pool of blood formed on the asphalt. My child was dead. It was like an attack. How can the one who killed him not know that he is going to kill him?”

“He was drunk driving through the streets of Paris in the middle of the night in a stolen car. And it wasn’t the first time he was acting dangerously.” says the chief.

It is unacceptable behavior that Yannick Alleno regrets, taking the example of the Pierre Palmade case, which caused a serious accident while under the influence of drugs. Angry, the cook explains: “What was unintentional about Pierre Palmade when he took the wheel under the influence of drugs? I think of the passengers in the car across the street, this crippled child, this young woman who lost the baby she was carrying. These people must be held accountable for voluntary actions… the law must change.”

Chief Alleno continues his fight today with a rage in his stomach and a desire to fight injustice with all his might.
