Anthony Mackie goes full throttle in the first teaser for Peacock’s upcoming series Bent metal.
The teaser, released on Friday, opens with Mackie’s John Doe starting his car’s engine, loading his guns and putting a playlist into the CD player. Listening to the sound of Len’s “Steal My Sunshine” set the mood as Mackie sped down the street, firing bullets from two cannons mounted in the front of his car.
The teaser also gives a glimpse of Sweet Tooth, the killer clown who will likely be the main villain in the series. As the camera pans around his ice cream van, the clown slams the door shut, giggling.
Bent metal is a high-octane scripted action comedy based on an original recording by dead pool From writers Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick about a well-spoken misfit who gets a chance at a better life, but only if he manages to deliver a mysterious package to a post-apocalyptic wasteland. With the help of a trigger-happy car thief, he’ll face off against marauders driving demolition vehicles and other off-road hazards, including a crazy clown driving an all-too-familiar ice cream truck.
Along with Mackie, the series stars Stephanie Beatriz, Thomas Haden Church, Will Arnett and Joe Seanoa. Neve Campbell, Richard Cabral, Mike Mitchell, Tahj Vaughans, Lou Beatty Jr. will play guest.
Michael Jonathan Smith will write the series and serve as showrunner. He will also executive produce with Reese and Wernick. Additional executive producers are Will Arnett and Marc Forman (Electric Avenue), Jason spits (entertain inspire), Peter Principato (artists first), Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan of PlayStation Productions and Hermen Hulst, head of PlayStation Studios. Bent metal is from Sony Pictures Television, PlayStation Productions and Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group.
