The Directors Guild today said it supports the WGA in its ongoing negotiations for a new film and television deal. WGA’s contract expires May 1 and DGA will begin negotiations for its own contract with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers on May 10. The DGA contract expires on June 30.
“As the WGA enters the final week of negotiations before the contract expires on May 1, we want
support them in their efforts to reach a fair and reasonable settlement for their members,” the DGA said in a statement. “In this time of profound change for our industry, all creative talents, craftsmen,
Craftsmen and workers who create the films and television shows that drive our industry deserve to earn a steady income and share in the success we build together.
“We are all interested in issues such as wages, residual flows, the funding of our health and pension plans, health and safety and more. We call on the AMPTP to seriously consider the authors’ concerns and to reach a fair and reasonable settlement.”

The National Council of SAG-AFTRA voted unanimously on Saturday to adopt a resolution “strongly supporting” the WGA in its ongoing negotiations for a new film and television agreement.
