Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney celebrated their football club’s victory in Wrexham and promotion from the National League to League Two.
The team is featured in the FX docuseries Welcome to Wrexham and that Welsh football club’s 3-1 win over Boreham Wood will undoubtedly be part of the coming season.
Wrexham’s tie was even celebrated by the Prince and Princess of Wales, Kate and William.
“Congratulations @Wrexham_AFC! A club with such a great history looking forward to a very exciting future in the Football League. Making Wales proud,” read one tweet from the royal family’s official account, signed with a W.
An official tweet from the Welsh team read: “WE ARE CHAMPIONS! AFTER 15 YEARS WE ARE BACK IN THE FOOTBALL LEAGUE!”

Earlier in the year Wrexham got another big win over Coventry in a 4-3 win. Wrexham were in the fifth tier at the time, their opponents three levels higher. Reynolds was “completely speechless” after that win as he shared the exciting news on social media.
The FX docu-series, which will premiere in August 2022, follows Wrexham co-owners Reynolds and McElhenney as they buy and try to revive the football team. Wrexham is the third oldest professional football team in the world, dating back to 1864.
Season 2 of the series evolves as the football season progresses. Viewers will get a behind-the-scenes look at the year’s big wins, with Hollywood ending as the team clinched a promotion.
