EXCLUSIVE: The partners of Vital Artists Agency, the fictional talent agency launched during the pandemic, are going their separate ways.
Deadline understands there are some changes regarding the company, which was founded in late 2020 by senior Rebel Entertainment agents Cal Boyington, Phil Irven and April Yuan following the resignation of their former boss Richard Lawrence.
The company has people like Valerie Chow, executive producer of The great American recipe Moira Noriega, Netflix series producer Ultimate master of animals and Vivian Payton, who worked on series such as Love and Hip-Hop: Miami And Reunion with the fresh Fresh Prince of Bel-Air as well as the production companies Sunwise Media, Empty Quarter Studios and Dola Media.
Boyington, who previously worked at ICM Partners and Paradigm Talent Agency, will become the sole owner of the Vital name, trademark and logo.
Irven will leave to start a new venture – Visionary Artists Agency – and agents Nicole Zien, who previously worked at CMT, Discovery and Citizen Jones, joined in February 2022, and Bill Thompson, who heads the non-scripted division of Verve and will join him in September 2022.
Yuan would join another agency. Among her clients was Asabi Lee, executive producer of Max’s Project Green Light Revival, Cherelle Hinds, Executive Producer of OWNs The Belle Collective and Teresa Hsu, executive producer of Paramount+s My dream quinceanera.
“The tree [partners] I did not want to comment individually on this transition, but only said that as a group the split was amicable and that all parties are focused solely on their customers and the bright future ahead,” the company said in a statement to Deadline said.
