HBO ordered a new one game of thrones Tentatively titled spin-off A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms : The Hedge Knight.
The prequel series, created by George RR Martin, is based on a series of novellas centered around the future Lord Commander of the Kingsguard, Ser Duncan the Tall, and his squire, Egg. Many fans dubbed this series “Dunk & Egg,” but Martin shared on his blog why he chose a different title.
“The working title is A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms : The Hedge Knight. Whether this will be the final title I can’t say for sure… except no, it’s not mentioned Dunk & Egg commitments or The Adventures of Dunk & Egg or Dunkin & Eggwrote Martin in his latest blog post.
Martin continued, “I love Dunk and I love Egg and I know fans refer to my novellas as ‘the Dunk & Egg stories’ for sure, but there are millions of people who don’t know the stories and the title .to fascinate them too.If you don’t know the signs Dunkin & Egg Sounds like a sitcom. Laverne & Shirley. Abbott and Costello. Beavis & Butthead. So no. We want “Knight” in the title. Chivalry and chivalry are central to the themes of these stories.”
The writer said that HBO has given the show a full series order and that the script for the spinoff’s first episode has already been written. Martin isn’t sure how many episodes the prequel series’ first season will consist of, but said it will “most likely” be six episodes, “although that’s not set in stone.”
Martin also explained that his book adaptations take time to develop, saying he pitched two ideas to the Premium Network in 2016, “the dance of the dragons, which evolved into one over time.” home of the dragon… and Dunk & Egg. That was seven years ago. (I can hardly believe it myself). The lesson from this is that development takes time.”
“I see all these stories on the internet about other spinoffs being killed or abandoned… no idea where they got this stuff from… and I just shake my head,” he added. “The Nymeria show is still in development. So is the Sea Snake Show. I just had a great week working with writers. And there is more, both alive and animated.”
