Four video game fans, Spencer, Anthony, Bethany and Martha, find an old console they never knew existed. In the middle of the game, they are drawn into the virtual universe of the game, where they are the avatars. Spencer transforms into Smolder, a large, muscular man. Martha and Anthony become sexy Ruby and Moose, respectively. To her dismay, the beautiful Bethany discovers that she has taken the place of Oberon, a 40-year-old professor with a potbelly…
Remakes of the classics of the 7th art, unfortunately, often do not meet the expectations of the public. That’s not the case with this new 1995 version of Jumanji by Joe Johnston. Because this 2017 is full of funny nuggets thanks to a clever script that turns the first board game into a video game. Now each participant chooses a pixel avatar to enter the adventure. And here is Spencer, skinny and introverted, who turns into a giant bodybuilder… while maintaining his fears and weaknesses.
“Spencer is the most anxious, loving, funniest and most vulnerable character I’ve ever played in my life.”, says Dwayne Johnson, aka The Rock. And since it is natural for the 1.93 m tall 120 kg star to mock itself, the result is phony. However, while the former wrestler admits that he lacked self-confidence in high school, he mischievously admits it. “Placing the mindset of a scared young boy hasn’t been easy”. We don’t understand why!
Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, It airs on TF1 on Sunday, April 9 at 21:10.
