What might motivate a young father to enter such a competition?
Gilles: Maybe it’s insane! My friends often tell me I have this little speck. I’m not a loyal viewer of Koh-Lanta, but I’ve never forgotten season 1, which was won by a certain Gilles in 2001. He was extremely effective at building the hut, left an imprint on the kid I was. More than two decades later, and before I took over the family farm, I applied in hopes of making my 2 and 4 year old daughters Albane and Maëlle proud.
To survive, not even to be afraid?
NO. Farming is hard work. There are very difficult times when we do not understand why we are working with things that are beyond us. I think of the weather, the health crisis… Koh-Lanta was a bit like that for me. Fortunately, this is just a game with a deadline.
Is the spirit of competition in your DNA?
I am not a great athlete, but I am brave and have good mental strength. I never give up on anything.
On March 14, you earned the talisman and the right to choose your new side. Another adventure that started then?
Completely. And even if we reset the counters, I’m sorry to lose the comrades we were hit with. That’s why I chose to save Quentin from the Tinago Council.
Koh-Lanta on TF1 every Tuesday at 9:10 PM
