A Punjabi and Bollywood actor is recovering from multiple stab wounds today after a man armed with an ax and knife attacked him outside a gym about an hour southeast of Los Angeles.
Aman Dhaliwal was attacked around 9:20 a.m. Tuesday in a Planet Fitness parking lot by a man identified by Corona police as Ronald Chand, 30, of Santa Ana. Both men ended up in the gym, where Dhaliwal was held at knifepoint – and also verbally threatened others in the room – before the victim fought back and, with the help of bystanders, overpowered and restrained the attacker. Check out the video captured at the gym below.
Dhaliwal, who lives in nearby Riverside, suffered multiple stab wounds to his torso, police said. He was taken to a local hospital for medical treatment for his non-life threatening injuries and has since been released.
Chand sustained minor injuries during his detention and was also admitted to the hospital for treatment. After he was released, he was taken to the Robert Presley Detention Center and charged with attempted murder. Bail was set at $1 million.
A model-turned-actor, Dhaliwal has appeared in Punjabi and Hindi films, among others I Kudi Punjab Tue And Ajj De Ranjhe and such local TV shows as Ishq Ka Rang Safed, Porus And Vighnahartha Ganesha. He has also had roles in Bollywood including Yodha Akbar And big brother.
