Imax is adding two heavyweights to its board of directors, appointing longtime entertainment executive Gail Berman and Reddit COO Jen Wong as directors.
Berman is an award-winning and prolific content creator with a varied career in film, television, digital media and Broadway and producer of the highly acclaimed and Oscar-nominated Best Picture elvis and head of the production studio Jackal Group.
Wong has led digital sales and strategy at a number of global media companies.
“As we continue to diversify and grow the IMAX business across platforms and globally, we continue to bring new expertise to our board and both Gail and Jen have deep, proven experience in the media and entertainment landscape,” said Rich Gelfond, CEO of Imax, said. Berman’s expertise will be invaluable as the company strives to strengthen partnerships with studios and filmmakers, he said. Wong can help expand Imax technology to different platforms and screens.
Berman currently oversees the Jakkalsgroep’s schedule for scripted and unscripted television, feature films and commercial theatre. Along with that of Baz Luhrmann elvisthe projects belong to MGM Addams family 2and Terry McMillan’s forthcoming adaptation I almost forgot you with NBC/Universal. She is the executive producer of the hit Netflix series Wednesday.
Previously, she was co-founder/co-owner of BermanBraun, a multi-platform media production company; President of Paramount Pictures; and president of Fox Broadcasting’s entertainment division. Berman was president of the Producers Guild of America from 2018 to 2022. wealth‘s 50 Most Powerful Women in America, and forbes100 most powerful women in the world.
Wong focused on building digital consumer businesses for global media brands. She has been Reddit’s COO since 2018 and oversees business strategy for the global platform, leading the growth of Reddit’s advertising business, developing content and advertising policies, and expanding into international markets.
Previously, she was COO/President of Digital at Time Inc., including People, Fortune, Time, Real Simple, Food & Wine, Travel + Leisure and other bars, working on digital advertising, video, paid consumer services and licensing. She was also Chief Business Officer at PopSugar and SVP/GM Lifestyle and Global Head of Business Operations at AOL. Wong was number one Fast company‘s 2022 Queer 50 list and serves on the boards of Discover Financial Services, the mobile ad technology company Marfeel Solutions and the nonprofit Ad Council.
