Although I didn’t really care about the director Joel Schumacher’S Batman foreverI liked it Val Kilmerthe performance in the role. He brought something different and interesting to the character, the director just didn’t build a good story around the character, and it was one of the strangest Batman movie that was made.

When Kilmer initially took on the role of Batman, he had no idea what kind of challenges it would entail. He accepted the role because he thought it would be good and fun, but when it comes to the reality of the situation in the documentary Valthe actor said, “Any boyish excitement I felt was squashed by the reality of the Batman suit.”
The Batman suit weighed 100 pounds, and because of the rubber hood, he could barely move in it and couldn’t hear anyone trying to talk to him. It got frustrating for him. But it was during the filming of the film that he discovered the true nature of Batman and what made the character so timeless and relatable.
While speaking to The New York Times, Kilmer shared an on-set experience where when he was about to take off his Batman suit, billionaire Warren Buffett showed up on set because his nephews wanted to see Batman. So, Kilmer kept the suit, but the guys really didn’t want to talk to him. They didn’t care about the man behind the suit, they just wanted to put on the hood and sit in the Batmobile!
Kilmer explained that this was a pivotal moment for him where he realized that Batman doesn’t have to be a real person behind the hood that you can interact with or talk to, it’s the symbol that others can see themselves in. The actor explained:
“That’s why it’s so easy to have five or six Batmans. It’s not about Batman. There is no Batman.
Let’s not forget that when James Gunn announces who will play Batman The brave and the bold. It doesn’t matter who plays him, it’s not about who’s cast in the role, it’s about the story of Batman.
Kilmer also shared another story that led him to play the Dark Knight. He shared this when he was in Africa in 1994 when he decided to enter a bat cave. Later that day, he called his agent… who had been trying to reach him for a couple of weeks. It turns out Warner Bros. was looking for a new Batman because Michael Keaton decided not to return to the role without Tim Burton at the helm. All of this led to Kilmer stepping into the role.
